Propul~Surf
Propul~Surf was designed to be an alternative to ski tows and snowmobiles. Indeed, this device can be fixed on any snowboard to drive anyone to the top of the mountains. This portable device can be packed in a bag, thus the snowboarder can freely go down the trail. Propul~Surf is based on an innovative propulsion system that is efficient and soft for the environment : two Archimedes screws convert the circular motion of the motors into a linear one that pushes the snowboard uphill.
Propul~Surf a été conçu comme une alternative aux remontées mécaniques et aux motos neiges. En effet, ce système peut se fixer sur n’importe quel snowboard et transporter une personne en haut des montagnes. Puisque c’est un système portatif, il peut être placé dans un sac pour la descente. Propul~Surf est basé sur un système de propulsion innovant très efficace énergétiquement et respectueux de l’environnement : deux vis d’Archimède convertissent le mouvement de rotation des moteurs électriques en mouvement de translation qui permet au snowboard de remonter une pente.
The prototype we produced was tested in Orelle - Val Thorens, France, and won the French Olympiads of Engineer Sciences.
Propul~Surf was designed in a French high school Lycée Parc Chabrières in Oullins by a group of five engineering students.
The first prototype, shown in this video, was made to check the validity of our propulsion system.
The next prototype will be five times faster, smaller and lighter.
Le prototype que nous avons réalisé a été testé à Orelle – Val Thorens, France. Il a remporté les Olympiades des Sciences de l’ingénieur 2013 à Paris. Propul~Surf a été conçu au le Lycée Parc Chabrières d’Oullins par un groupe de 5 étudiants en sciences de l’ingénieur. Le premier prototype, montré dans cette vidéo, a été réalisé pour tester et valider notre système de propulsion. Le prochain prototype sera cinq fois plus rapide, plus petit et plus léger.
